APPARITION
This is usually a spirit that has taken human form
and has manifested to be visible by cameras, and or the human eye.
ELECTRONIC VOICE PHENOMENA (E.V.P)
Have you ever played back a taped recording and discovered voices that were not there when you originally recorded it? This is an EVP. What is an EVP? Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Many experts conduct EVP sessions to try and explain why some spirits are haunting certain sites. They ask questions to the spirits to see if they can get responses from beyond the
grave.
ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD DETECTOR (E.M.F)
This is a piece of equipment used widely by many people in the paranormal investigation field. It is a scientific instrument used to measure electromagnetic fields. Ghosts/spirits are thought to consist of energy primarily electromagnetic in nature and therefore creating readings on the meter that are unexplainable.
ENERGY IMPRINTS
Most people know this as a Residual Haunting. Each of us has energy which we leave on objects we touch or wherever we go. This is how psychometry is performed. By touching an object of a missing person and being able to connect with their essence. Objects which can retain this energy for the longest period of time are items such as jewellery, metals, crystal and pottery. Even items such as books or fabric can hold these imprints for a great period of time. This energy will stay on the object till the person who must receive the message understands.
When a residual haunting occurs it is because an emotional incident or violent event has taken place that has left this energy behind. Often times the ghost will repeat these events over and over replaying like a tape recording.
GHOSTS
A ghost is an apparition of a deceased person. They have been known to appear in different forms to those who are still living through time. They can manifest as apparitions, shadows (white or black), mist/ectoplasm and orbs . They come in all shapes and sizes, young or old.
They may have unfinished business, or an unpaid debt. If a ghost is invading your home you may ask it to leave, or have your home blessed/cleansed.
GHOST HUNTER
A person who uses basic guidelines set by researchers to search haunted locations. They are generally in probable locations such as cemeteries, abandoned buildings, historical sites, etc.
HAUNTINGS
Most spirits don't necessarily haunt in the location in which they died. Some will stay wherever is most comfortable for them. Some like to travel like a hitchhiker with you and follow you home. For some reason experts believe that these spirits are earthbound for an unknown reason. Hauntings include residual, intelligent, inhuman and portal travelling spirits.
THERMAL IMAGING AND INFRA RED CAMERA TECHNOLOGY
This technology has been very helpful in the paranormal field. The infra-red camera is used to remotely determine the temperature of objects. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature. Therefore the camera allows one to see variations in temperature using colour. This technology is regularly used for military and industrial purposes. The FLIR PM695 infrared imaging system is one example that groups use on investigations.
GHOSTLY AURAS
Sometimes you can pick up on auras from those who have already left this world. We used “Auras” by Paul Naras as a helpful reference. Further readings of auras can be found in many books at your local Libraries and Book Stores.
NIGHT HAGS
These beings are a common theme in folklore stories of an entity who visits victims while they sleep and usually attempts to crush, smother or strangle them. Those who survive the night hag usually report being awoken with a feeling of dread, unease and not being able to move or speak. There is often pressure on the chest making it difficult to breath or you wake up paralyzed. In most cases the victim will feel as though they are about to pass out, weakened, drained for prolonged periods of time.
ORBS
The orb is when a ghost/spirit uses energy from a source (powerlines, batteries, people) so they can manifest. This might explain why orbs form in the shape of a round ball. Many times they show up on pictures or video. There are some who can see orbs with their own eyes. If you look at the laws of Physics; energy being transferred like that would assume is natural shape of a sphere. This is why we use EMF readings to uncover any paranormal activity. If you notice each orb is different and has a fingerprint look appearance inside them. There are many people who claim they have captured orbs in their photos. This may simply be bugs, sunlight, moisture, dirt or something else that can be explained.
PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION
Going to a possibly haunted area or location, taking photographs; audio recordings; video footage; electromagnetic field monitoring, etc. More often than not, conclusions cannot be made without more than one visit to the alleged haunted location.
SHADOW PEOPLE
Are shadow-like creatures of both modern and traditional Native American beliefs. According to folklore, they appear as dark forms in a person’s peripheral vision and then vanish quickly. They sometimes move between walls, when noticed.
Reports of shadow people occupy a similar position in the popular consciousness to sightings. Reports may differ in that shadow people are not reported as having human features, wearing modern/period clothing, or attempting to communicate. Witnesses also do not report the same feelings of being in the presence of something that 'was once human'. Some individuals have described being menaced, chased, or in some rare instances, attacked by shadow people. There have also been reports of shadow people appearing in front of witnesses of which they stay there or linger for several seconds before disappearing. Witnesses report that encounters are typically accompanied by a feeling of dread.
